Jen & Jonny

March 11, 2017

We decided it was finally time to tie the knot, and can’t imagine doing it without you there! Please join us for our upcoming nuptials on the southern coast of California. There are plenty of pictures to be taken and bottles of champagne waiting to be popped – all we need are your lovely faces!

- Jen & Jonny

The Couple

Jen & Jonny

Our story begins the way any modern love story does: Boy meets girl, girl sits next to boy in class, girl is hopelessly clumsy, but boy can’t resist picking up her dropped pencils despite her many protests that it makes more sense to let them accumulate on the floor throughout class and just grab them after the lecture has ended.

Obviously this love story is a timeless tale.

Having a different point of view on how to handle dropped school supplies was just the beginning of the many contrasting perspectives we would share over the next several years of bestfriendship. No matter the severity of the topic- whether it be cats versus dogs or how our friendship would ever survive the fact that Jonny hadn’t read any Harry Potters and Jen hadn’t witnessed a single Star Wars movie- we would always find a way to benefit from our differences.

Over the years our friendship led to both of us growing in ways we couldn’t have predicted, including falling in love with not only each other, but both the mystical world of Harry Potter AND galaxies far, far away. After four years of dating and sharing the best and worst life has thrown at us, we’ve decided to make it official and share last names.

Bridal Crew

Jessica Bryant

Sisters since birth, but best friends within the last decade. It all turned around when she finally stopped stealing my clothes.

Emily Ruch

Twenty years with this one. The first friend that ever crossed over into family. She really brings out my song writing abilities, as well as the tendency to laugh until I can’t breath.

Rachel Johnson

The provider of my god-daughter and the plucker of my eyebrows. Basically my life would not be complete without her.

Brittany Roach

First new friend in college, and first member of team Jonny. Conquered downtown together and now real life. We share a birthday as well as a love of long walks along the beach… but really.

Shelley Cooke

The easiest friendship I’ve ever formed, and one of the most dependable women I’ve ever met. Whether we’re crafting, binge watching terrible Disney sequels, or co-parenting our pups, it’s effortless to share life with her.

Megan Westfall

They say if you love someone set them free and if they return it was meant to be. Well.. I guess our friendship was meant to be. Couldn’t be happier to have her back on the best coast!

Claire Lindsey

Now this one has a tendency to be a part of all my favorite memories. The personification of the quote, “Work hard, play hard.” In other words, my hero and role model.

Meghan Navarro

The newest friendship in the bridal party, but a significant one. Averaging a consistent 8-14 hours of interaction every day over the last two years, and still syncing calendars in order to maximize hang out opportunities. Are we nauseatingly cute? YES. Are you super jealous of our friendship? YOU SHOULD BE

Meet the Gents

Joshua Lehmer

The best Lehmer brother adventure partner I could ask for. Whether we’re making heroic runs across the paintball battlefield or nearly careening off cliffs while snowboarding, the risks have never been able to catch up to us. Although our aching joints may confine us to rocking chairs before we’re 40…

Eric Green

Since meeting in 6th grade I’m pretty sure within a month we were running covert operations to T.P. houses around the block. Thankfully this guy always had a thorough escape plan for those times the spotlights started sweeping. We’ve had each other’s backs since then and have shared every single up and down that life throws.

Zach Rose

He’s half of the dynamic twin duo that participated in the Lehmer brother’s grand, childhood quests into the savage, backyard wilderness. Afterwards there would be begging of parents (sometimes involving strategic tears) to let us all have a sleepover and watch Balto. Based on the decades of friendship, we were obviously quite convincing.

Matt Rose

As the other half of the dynamic twin duo I shared my youth with, our friendship goes back farther than my earliest memories. After college, while I was trying to postpone my career for a year, ahem, I mean.. attend grad school… he encouraged me to join him up in the Emerald City. And so began one of the best years of my life among the water and trees.

Mark Huntsinger

From two first graders playing with G.I. Joes in elaborate dirt forts to college roommates graduating from Cal Poly to Southern California professionals trying as many breweries as we can, this one has been there every step of the way. He’s seen first hand my awkward years, my weird years, my loud years, my quiet years, my stressed years, and the year I met my fiancée. Needless to say, he approved.

All of the Fun Things

  • Rehearsal Dinner

After our quick dress-less rehearsal, the wedding party will meet up with our families upstairs at the R10 Social House. We’ve spent countless evenings here enjoying the postcard sunsets over the marina while devouring their farm-to-table food and throwing back some local beverages. Beer and wine will get the night started, shortly followed by a delicious meal featuring R10’s herb roasted chicken or marinated flat steak. If you are a vegetarian, please let us know! You will have our sympathies for missing such a delicious meal, as well as an alternative plate prepared for you. Everyone can enjoy validated parking at the Redondo Beach Marina lot located at 181 North Harbor Drive.

Semi Formal. Spend many minutes getting ready in order to achieve that effortless "just threw this outfit together" look

  • Welcome Drinks

We realize many of you are coming in from out of town and may find yourself with a free Friday night in an unfamiliar city and no idea how to fill it. Well, the obvious solution is to spend an extra night with us! We don’t see many of you nearly often enough, so if you are in town Friday, make your way over to Strand Brewing Co and enjoy our company as well as an adult beverage or two. There will be a Bartz BBQ food truck on site as well if you are interested in getting a bite to eat!

  • Ceremony

We’re going to make it official with an intimate ceremony witnessed by family and a few close friends in the very same chapel Jonny’s parents said “I do” over 30 years ago. After some gorgeous bridesmaids walk down the aisle, a few Bible verses are read, and of course some lip-locking, the deal will be sealed! We kindly ask that photos be left to our talented photographer during the ceremony and our guests just simply enjoy the moment.

Black-tie optional. We invited you, stylish comrades, for a reason. If complementary colors are your thing, we'll be decking the aisles with a flattering wine-like red, neutral champagne, and black accents.

  • Reception

Wife & hubby (wait, us?) will snap some photos along the coast line immediately following our intimate ceremony. Meanwhile, further down the hill, all guests are welcome to snap some photos of themselves while enjoying an adult beverage of their choice inside the historic library. Of course, #JoiningJenandJonny. Valet parking is provided, so ignore Google Maps and follow the directions at the link below instead. No need to front, this is what we all have been waiting for. We look forward to joining you inside for a twinkle-lit celebration full of memorable moments.

Registry

We appreciate you coming from far and wide to be with us for our big day. City friends, we know that traveling southern California freeways feels like crossing the country. Your attendance is as good a gift as any. Who really needs a Vitamix, anyhow?

However, if you feel inclined to add a little shimmer to our otherwise dull china collection, you can browse our `wants’ over here at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

To better dress our guest bedroom, possibly in anticipation of your next long weekend at the beach, visit Zola. This website allows group gifting and includes our linens and other miscellaneous ‘must have’ items not found at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Last but not least, if material goods aren’t your thing, we have also included some honeymoon festivities and a general travel honeyfund on Zola. Head that way to help send us on an unforgettable trip!

Redondo Beach, CA

Jonny managed to find the least LA-like city in Southern California for us to call home, and I (Jen) certainly couldn’t love it more. While you’re here, we want you to experience it to its fullest! Here’s a couple of our recommendations, but don’t let that limit you. Eat. Drink. Do.

EAT / DRINK / DO

EAT

Rock 'n' Brews

6300 S Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA

This restaurant is more of an experience than just a source for food. Owned by the rock band KISS, it’s decked out with Rock’n’Roll paraphernalia and is constantly playing classic rock music videos on one of the main screens. It’s an excellent sports bar with over ten different televisions and booth seating featuring four different beers on tap right there at the table. Also complete with a children’s play area, so this is a family friendly establishment.

EAT

Redondo Beach Brewing Company

1814 S Catalina Ave.
Redondo Beach, CA

Despite the name, this establishment does not actually brew any beer on site. However their diverse and substantial menu more than makes up for it. We seriously frequent this place an embarrassing amount. Their extensive menu is nothing compared to their beer list. We’re talking usually over fifty different beers on tap. If you eat out at one place while you’re in Redondo, we recommend that it’s this one.

EAT

Captain Kidd's Fish Market

209 N Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach, CA

A no-frills establishment with an AMAZING selection of fresh sea food options. If you’re going during peak meal times, be prepared to wait in line, but well worth the extra time.

Means of Travel

Fly

I know many of you are frequent fliers, but those of you who are less familiar with the best times to book flights, keep reading for some helpful tips. To quote Google, “fifty-four days before takeoff is, on average, when domestic airline tickets are at their absolute lowest price. If you don’t hit 54 days on the head, you should usually book between 112 to 21 days before your trip for the lowest possible prices.”

Find Flights

Drive

You are in the lucky minority who are a drivable distance. Don’t let your road rage get the best of you and we appreciate you enduring the struggle that is the Los Angeles freeway system.

Find Directions

Bicycle

You must be a real local or an incredibly fit individual. Either way, we wish you luck up the Palos Verdes hill!

Whether you’re planning on using our wedding as an excuse for a relaxing beach vacation or you’re looking for the most cost-effective place to lay your head, we’ve got options for you! These are by no means the only places available, just the ones we’ve either blocked out rooms at, received discounts from, dreamed about staying at, or have found to be a particularly Uber friendly distance. Whichever you choose, this weekend is spring break for many schools so the kind hotel people have highly recommended booking sooner than later.

AirBnB
AirBnB

If you’re traveling with a larger group, or know that you’ll be meeting up with close friends at the wedding, airbnb is a good option to consider. For those of you unfamiliar with the site, it is a website that allows home or condo owners to rent out all or part of their personal residence. It is a trusted site, just make sure to read reviews and check the location before booking. Traffic within Redondo is usually pretty manageable, but I would recommend staying within a five mile radius of the reception to avoid any unwelcome delays.
